Richard William Huff, beloved father and dedicated veteran, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, at Signature Healthcare of Elizabethtown. He was 84 years old and was born in Montogomery, PA, on March 9, 1942. Richard leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness that will forever resonate with his family and friends.
Richard dedicated 27 honorable years of service to the U.S. Army, where he proudly served as an Intelligence Analyst. His commitment to his country was only matched by his passion for community service and his unwavering support for those around him. After his military service, he continued to touch lives by actively engaging in childcare and community activities, always the first to lend a helping hand.
His loving daughters, Sondra Salvo and Susanne Byrd, along with his stepdaughter, Elissa Curry, will carry forward his spirit of generosity. Richard was also a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Hollie Jenkins, Samuel Salvo, Gina Byrd, David Curry, and Andrew Curry, as well as one great-granddaughter, Naomie Jenkins. He is also survived by his sister, Pegi Shaner. Richard will be lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Richard Huff and Ruth Harmon Huff; and his cherished wife, C. Ann Huff, who left this world in 2021, and his brother, David Huff.
A memorial service to celebrate Richard's life will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, August 2, 2026, at the Leitchfield Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to gather from 1:00 PM until the service time, sharing stories and memories of a man who filled their lives with love and laughter. At 2:00 PM we will move to Layman Memorial Gardens for the committal service with military honors.
