With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Forrest Edward Rich, aged 80, who left us peacefully on July 3, 2025, at his beloved home in Leitchfield, Kentucky. Born on July 26, 1944, in Waynesville, North Carolina, Forrest's spirit was as bold as the mountains of his birthplace, and he will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.Forrest served his country with honor as a dedicated member of the United States Army, enlisting on June 14, 1963, and proudly serving until his discharge on August 22, 1972. As a Vietnam Veteran, Forrest's bravery earned him commendation and respect, culminating in the award of the Bronze Star for his service. His remarkable journey continued at Fort Knox, where he excelled as a mechanic and gunsmith, always demonstrating a steadfast commitment to excellence in all he undertook.
An active member of the American Legion Post 81, Forrest cherished the bonds of camaraderie forged with fellow veterans. He was also a master Mason. He took great pleasure in pursuing his passions, especially drag racing, and enjoyed the simple joy of watching his favorite show, Heartland.
Forrest leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter, Rebecca Rich (Chris Jaggers), and his cherished grandchild, Aidan Rich. He is also survived by his nephew, Brian Clemons, and a special friend, Pat Sherrill. He was preceded in death by his son, Myron Rich, and his brother, Marshall Rich, who will welcome him with open arms in eternal rest.
A graveside service will be held in honor of Forrest Edward Rich on July 8, 2025, at 11:30 AM at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central.
