Donna Kaye Ledford

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donna Kaye Ledford, who departed this world on July 17, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on June 17, 1946, in Louisville, Kentucky, Kaye was the daughter of the late Fred and Pearl Dennis Powell. She called Sonora her home, where her spirit brightened the lives of everyone around her.

Kaye was a wonderful soul who loved her family fiercely. Though she never had children of her own, her heart overflowed with love for her numerous nieces and nephews, who will carry her memory forward with endless stories and cherished moments. She also leaves behind one brother-in-law, Larry Buell Meredith.

Known for her warmth and kindness, Kaye was celebrated as Mrs. Kentucky in 1983, a title she wore with pride and dignity. Her devotion to family was matched only by her commitment to her faith as a member of Broadford Missionary Baptist Church.

She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Frank Ledford, and is welcomed home by five brothers-Alfred, Sammy, Paul, Maynard, and Carl Powell-and three sisters-Beulah Kessinger, Agnes Riggs, and Carolyn Meredith. 

A fitting farewell will be held in her honor at Leitchfield Funeral Home. Public visitation will take place on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and again on Tuesday, July 21, beginning at 10:00 AM until the funeral service starts at 1:00 PM. Friends and family are encouraged to come share their love and memories, and support one another during this time. Following the service, Kaye will be laid to rest in Broadford Cemetery.
