With heavy hearts yet grateful spirits, we announce the passing of David Wayne Starr, 59, who left this world on September 29, 2025, nestled among the love of his family at his home in Leitchfield, Kentucky. Born on April 15, 1966, in Forsyth, Georgia, David was the beloved son of the late Douglas Lee Starr Sr. and Dale Roach Starr Ransom.
David's life was a rich tapestry woven with adventure and service. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in Germany and subsequently embarked on a professional journey that took him around the globe-from the vibrant landscapes of Cuba to the deserts of Iraq, and the bustling cities of China and Indonesia-as a dedicated project manager. David concluded his career with UD Contracting, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.
A devoted member of Little Clifty Baptist Church, David found solace and purpose in his faith. He was known by many as "SupaStarr," reflecting a personality that radiated warmth and kindness. He had an uncanny ability to connect with others, never meeting a stranger and always welcoming everyone into his life. An avid golfer, David cherished the time spent on the course, laughing and sharing stories with his friends.
David is survived by his loving wife, Valerie Baker Starr; his step-son, Elijah Smallwood; his mother, Dale Roach Starr Ransom; his brother, Doug Starr and wife Angie; his sister, Lynn Starr Chadderton and husband Ray; along with two nieces, two nephews, four great-nieces and nephews, aunts, an uncle, cousins, and a legion of friends whose lives were touched by his generosity and spirit.
He has been reunited in peace with his father, Douglas Lee Starr Sr., and his cherished grandparents, Ed and Mattie Harris Roach and Linwood and Ruby Adams Starr.
In celebration of David's life, the family will receive friends on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Leitchfield Funeral Home. A funeral service honoring his journey and spirit will follow at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Steve Hill officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will take place in the serene setting of Little Clifty Baptist Church Cemetery, where David's laughter and light will forever echo.
The family kindly requests memorial contributions to be made to Little Clifty Baptist Church, c/o Ellis Kiper, 2244 Lilac Road, Leitchfield, KY 42754.
As we reflect on the beautiful memories shared with David, we invite all who knew and loved him to celebrate his life and the indelible impact he had on those around him. Please leave your condolences for the family at www.leitchfieldfh.com.
