Listen to Obituary

Charles Douglas Sheroan, lovingly known as Doug, was born on November 7, 1974, and left us on April 29, 2026, at the age of 51. Doug's light graced the lives of everyone who knew him, and his infectious smile could brighten the darkest of days. His journey through life was a testament to love, hard work, and unwavering patience.

Doug spent his days making connections with others, working as a dedicated Service Center Manager II for Valvoline over the course of six years. He poured his heart into ensuring that his store was the best in the market-achieving excellence in customer satisfaction and earning recognition that highlighted his commitment to his work, including a recent trip to the Men's Final Four in San Antonio, Texas, for the Google Customer Satisfaction Award and a Safety Satisfaction Award. But beyond the accolades, Doug was a man who truly cared for the people around him.

In his personal life, Doug was a devoted father and grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength in his children: Charles Dakota (Jordan), Kaiden, Gracie, and Bretta Stice, along with stepchildren Halie Jean and Lucas Allen. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren-Waylon, Lillian, Cayley, Hunter, Carson, and Christian-and shared countless memories with them. He is also survived by his beloved fiancé, Heather Camille Higdon, his mother, Gloria Blair, his siblings Tanisha Ellingsworth (Mike), Daniel Bell, Aaron Hayes (Julianne), Chris Bell, and his long-time furry companion, Rascal Cat.

He was preceded in death by Opal Mattingly, Charles Mattingly and Paul Hughes.

Doug's passions were as diverse as his talents. Whether he was tinkering with Subarus, mastering paint and bodywork, or embarking on home improvement projects, he was forever the handy man. His creativity shone most brightly in the kitchen, where he loved to smoke meats and experiment with new recipes. His collection of vintage Texaco memorabilia and his fondness for Ford Mustangs-especially the '66 Mustang Fastback -were true reflections of his spirited personality.

We invite all who knew Doug to join us in celebrating his life and the memories we all cherish. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 1 PM CST at the Leitchfield Funeral Home. There will be a gathering for family and friends from 12:00 PM CST until 7:00 PM CST on Monday and again from 9:00 AM CST until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home, where we can all share our stories, laughter, and tears, honoring the beautiful spirit of this remarkable man.

In the days ahead, while we grieve the loss of Doug, let us also remember the joy he brought to our lives and the love he gave so freely. His legacy will live on in each of us, reminding us to carry forward that same warmth and compassion he shared with the world. Doug will be truly missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
